1. When first encountering wiki at the beginning of the course.
What do you think/feel about this collaborative learning environment ?
I believe that with collaborative learning a person is exposed to more material ,
and in turn learns more. I want to read and explore our wiki in detail and see what
other people have to say about certain topics.

What are your expectations for yourself?
For my own content I want to provide information on a past genre that is not really
practiced today, but has influenced the way in which other mediums and genres
have developed throughout history. I have done a lot of research on Roman Art and
how meaning is translated through the ancient pieces. I knew that many people
would research media genres of today, so I thought it would be interesting to learn
and research about a genre in the past.

If you have previously used wiki in another course,
describe what you have previously learned and how you
want to expand your understanding.

I have used a wiki for CCT 205 and I was impressed with the amount of content
generated. I have learned encourage editing and to be open to others editing my work.
At first it was an insult, then I realized that it was the opposite, people that edited
the work did so because they were interested.

What can you contribute as an experienced participant?
As an experienced participant to wiki spaces, I am happy to help people out on a technical level.
I enjoy teaching people how to navagate the wiki space and how to edit and create their own pages.
Also with me editing others pages, I create an influence for others to edit, and this is the entire point
of wiki spaces.

2. Think about the following and answer to the best of your ability:

How do you choose which postings to contribute or change? What do you look for?
When I look for a posting to contribute to, I usually choose a topic that interests me, or that
I have a prior knowledge to. However sometimes when the information is new to me, but
very interesting I feel like researching and added to it also.

What are your thoughts on adding, editing or re-arranging other people's work?
Sometime it is hard to re-arrange someone’s work if it is already well organized. Also you feel
like you are intruding at first, but it is important to remember that there is always room for improvement.

Do you regularly check your own postings for alterations? Has anyone
changed your work and how have you felt about it?

Yes, people have changed my work, and I encourage it. I really enjoy seeing others taking any interest
in my page, considering I created content that pertains to history and not so much new media that most
people have been writing about. However i do not agree with people erasing large amount of other's content,
because it is most likely they have worked hard on it.

3.As a final reflection for the course, post your thoughts and ideas on:

Challenges or limitations you experienced while working collaboratively on wiki
Many people are competing for ideas, so it may be hard to figure out what topic to write about,
without it being taken or already mentioned. This is why I decided to cover an area that is so
distant from traditional ideas of genres because the more recent genres I am interested in
were already well developed.

Advantages or benefits from participating in this wiki
Advantages are seeing students you may never get to work with or even have
a conversion with all coming together in a different way. I also like to see what
interests others and it has really has taught me about some interesting personalities
within the CCIT program just through the content that they have provided.

Things about the course you thought worked well and/or suggested improvements
Overall the course was very good, though it was not at all what I expected. The culture jam project
was very interesting, my group and I learned a lot by doing it, it was a lot of work, but a lot of fun.
For improvement I think that the Content material that the student is excepted to provide should be handed
in, in hard copy form at one point. This will discourage people from plagiarizing and as a
result people will write in a more professional manner.
Also I wish that comics were not such an extensive part of the course, instead I wish that
we explored more genres as a class by analyzing films, commercials, photos, art. I’m not saying
that there should be no comics, but I feel that it took over most of the course, by having two texts
pertaining to the subject. Overall the course was good and I would take it again.
Mike and David make a great team! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

A side note, my favourite article was Revenge of the Right Brain
Logical and precise, left-brain thinking gave us the Information Age. Now comes the Conceptual Age
- ruled by artistry, empathy, and emotion.By Daniel H. PinkPage . It was so interesting and I think Mike Jones
did a great lecture about it, i learned so much.
